Teamsters Local 500 heeded the call from International Brotherhood of Teamsters President, Sean O'Brien to man the picket line in an attempt to bring Amazon to the bargaining table.  Amazon has refused to bargain with the Teamsters even though the sentiment is growing among its Employees to join the most powerful Union in the United States (probably the world).  Picket lines were set up in multiple Amazon facilities in the Tri-State area at 6 am. Thursday, December 19th.  The Members on the picket line have received many positive comments from Employees at the targeted facilities.  At the local convenience store, Amazon Employees approached our Members stating that many of the Employees are stealing glimpses of our picketers on the line much to the chagrin of Amazon management.  If we keep the pressure up, the dam will break and bring these underpaid, underappreciated, mistreated people into the Teamsters Uniion where they can get the protection that they deserve.  The tragedy of this whole exercise is that it is necessary to have the worlds most profitable corporatation, browbeaten to treat the people who make their profits possible the way that it should.
